(GALLOWAY, N.J.) – Rachel Drummond and Brynn Walker are joining previously announced 2021 sponsor exemption participant Megha Ganne as the three sponsor exemptions competing in the 2021 ShopRite LPGA Classic Presented by Acer, taking place Sept. 27-Oct. 3 at Seaview, A Dolce Hotel.
“We are excited that Rachel, Megha and Brynn accepted our sponsor invitations and will be joining the 2021 tournament field,” said Leela Narang, executive director of the ShopRite LPGA Classic Presented by Acer. “Megha and Brynn have been two of the most dominant junior and amateur golfers in the region, and we are thrilled they are returning to the tournament once again this year. Finally, we are honored to have Rachel making her LPGA Tour debut at the ShopRite LPGA Classic Presented by Acer. Her perseverance in regaining status on the Ladies European Tour and launching her foundation to give back to the game she loves is a remarkable story.”Drummond, 31, from England, has competed professionally for nine years and is currently competing full-time on the Ladies European Tour. She stepped away from competitive golf in 2018 after the passing of her father, returned home to England and took a position with player management at the European Tour. She re-dedicated herself to the game and regained status on the LET for the 2021 season. In 2020, also established the Hole in Wand Foundation, aiming to encourage girls and boys to start playing golf by making the game magical and fun. The 2021 ShopRite LPGA Classic will be Drummond’s LPGA Tour debut.
Walker, 23, a St. David’s native and Radnor High graduate outside of Philadelphia who was a standout on the golf team at the University of North Carolina, turned professional after graduation in 2020 and is competing full-time on the Symetra Tour. She will be making her fourth appearance in the ShopRite LPGA Classic. She competed in the Monday Qualifier six times dating to her senior year of high school, qualifying for the ShopRite LPGA Classic twice. She also competed in the 2020 ShopRite LPGA Classic on a sponsor’s exemption.
Ganne, a 17-year-old high school senior at Holmdel High School in Monmouth Country, N.J., will be competing in the ShopRite LPGA Classic as an amateur for the second consecutive year. She took the golf world by storm earlier in June at the U.S. Women’s Open at The Olympic Club in San Francisco, sharing the opening round lead, playing in the final threesome for Sunday’s final round, and winning low amateur honors. She competed in the 2021 Augusta National Women’s Amateur in April of this year and has committed to Stanford University following high school graduation. Tournament officials announced Ganne’s sponsor invitation earlier this summer.
