Finn Cycle to be at the Solheim Cup

(Missoula, Montana)
– Finn Cycle, the electric golf scooter that’s adding fun and speeding up pace of play at a golf course near you, will be at the 2021 Solheim Cup. Customized for the U.S. Team and the European Team, team captains will have the option to use Finn Cycles during the tournament and one of each version of the cycle will be available in the Solheim After Sundown Downtown Auction.

Developed by Rick Reimers, founder and owner of the long-pioneering golf equipment company Sun Mountain Sports, Finn has its roots in golf. Finn Cycle is a two-wheeled, single-rider cycle with an electric motor and lithium battery that offers a comfortable and stable ride that leaves all who ride it smiling. Finn Cycles are currently part of the rental fleet at over 160 golf courses in 40 states across the country with more cycles shipping daily.

“We’re thrilled by the opportunity to provide these customized Finn Cycles to the Solheim Cup,” said Rick Reimers. “Riding Finn is invigorating, and we hope that energy carries throughout the tournament.”

The golf bag sits along the centerline of Finn Cycle offering easy golf club access and riding stability. Finn Cycle has front and rear suspension for a comfortable ride and braking with hand-operated disc brakes. The electric motor is in the rear wheel offering a sleek design. The lithium battery can go up to 36-holes on a single charge though charging after every round is suggested.

“It’s exciting to be able to showcase a cutting-edge golf product like Finn at the Solheim Cup,” said Solheim Cup Tournament Director Becky Newell. “And we’re confident the cycles will be a big draw at the fundraising Solheim After Sundown Auction.”

Finn travels at the same speed as a traditional golf cart, approximately 15 mph, and offers the opportunity to substantially speed up the pace of play by naturally encouraging ready golf with each player driving directly to their ball. Finn also offers a scan and ride smart phone app which allows for touchless check-out in the pro shop.

For golf courses, Finn offers several options including lease plus revenue share, direct purchase, and fleet financing.

Reimers has a well-deserved reputation for creating innovative golf products that become industry mainstays such as the golf bag with built-in legs (the stand bag) and the golf push cart.

The Solheim Cup combines the tradition and prestige of the game of golf with passion for one’s country and continent. This biennial, transatlantic team match-play competition features the 12 best European players from the Ladies European Tour (LET) and the 12 best U.S. players from the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Tour. Held every two years, the first Solheim Cup was staged in 1990, with the latest 2019 Solheim Cup having taken place at Gleneagles, Scotland.

The 2021 Solheim Cup event will take place Sept. 4-6 at Inverness Club in Toledo, Ohio. U.S. Captain Pat Hurst, along with Assistant Captains Angela Stanford and Michelle Wie West will lead the best players from the United States as they look to reclaim the Solheim Cup on home soil. Europe will be helmed by Captain Catriona Matthew, with Vice Captains Laura Davies, Kathryn Imrie and Suzann Pettersen.
