TGA Golf Franchises Expanding Alongside Individual Sports Growth

Sports change lives - Local after school golf program impacts kids with safe enrichment activities.

(Los Angeles, CA) – TGA Premier Sports (TGA) congratulates veteran owners for expanding their youth sports golf franchises as parents across the country are desperately seeking fun and safe, individual programming. Even though the pandemic caused a void for youth activities and school sponsored athletics,TGA is experiencing growth within its chapters across the country.

TGA chapters like Long Beach, Calf., Detroit, Mich., and Bergen County, New Jersey are great examples of the growth and popularity the game is having right now. The innovative youth sports franchise model continues to be successful by providing local youth with introductory golf programming.

Kevin Oliver, a former software and technology executive, is the owner of two TGA franchises, golf and tennis in Long Beach, Seal Beach, and Los Alamitos just south of Los Angeles. He recently expanded his territory by acquiring the TGA golf franchise in Orange County.

"When things first shut down, it was easy to look at the future and see an insurmountable challenge, but if we looked close enough there were children and families that needed us now more than ever,” said Oliver. “We decided to take action and create safe programming in the area and instead of waiting things out, we partnered with Bixby Village Golf Course in Long Beach and launched TGA Golf Academy with our own private junior practice facility on site. This has allowed us to serve students from age 4-14 for the past year despite challenges and adversity in getting everything up and running and operating within city guidelines. To top it off we were able to hire more coaching staff and keep long time coaches working so they could support their own families.”

Since 2018, Oliver has welcomed more than 1,200 children in his after-school enrichment programs in partnership with over 30 schools. Last summer, with an influx of enrollment in his golf programs, Oliver created the TGA Golf Academy. The TGA Golf Academy is a new 10,000 square foot learning space which includes a putting green, chipping area, and short distance driving range.

Two additional chapters expanded their territories late last year, Dave Robinson, a former sports editor and deputy managing editor with the Detroit Free Press, operates the Detroit Metro area franchises in  Oakland, Macomb, and most recently Wayne counties. Robinson not only saw a 40 percent increase in his camp programs, but 26 of his former students qualified for the girl’s high school state championships, which highlights and solidifies TGA’s Player Pathway.

“It is very difficult to qualify for the state high school golf championships. So, the bar is high,” said Robinson. “Over 40 percent of our registrations in our introductory programs have been young girls who want to learn and play the sport. Once our students go through the enrichment programs and camps, the next progression for kids who want to take their game to the next level are fall and spring leagues, plus individual tournaments. We provide a low-stress introduction to competitive golf.”

Kevin Rooney spearheads all TGA programming in Bergen County, New Jersey, and Northern Westchester, New York. Both locations have seen a rapid spike in business by providing a solution for families who need quality, safe activities for their kids with in-person sports. With social distancing naturally built into golf offerings have been in high demand as parents look for new sports activities for their kids.

Through introductory youth sports TGA creates and supports the journey for healthy children. Every TGA golf session is led by trained coaches combining sports with academics (STEAM), life skills, and physical activity. Safety protocols have been put in place to keep everyone healthy, and classes may be located outside on school campuses, locally through strategic partnerships with golf courses, and community centers.
