Giants Ridge’s The Quarry Honored in GOLF Magazine’s Top 100 Courses You Can Play List

Jeff Brauer Gem Finishes in Top-70 of North American Layouts, Only Minnesota Course Ranked

(BIWABIK, Minn.) – Giants Ridge – Minnesota’s premier golf destination set in the rugged beauty of the Mesabi Iron Range – announces The Quarry at Giants Ridge placed among the top-70 in GOLF Magazine’s list of “Top 100 Courses You Can Play” in North America, and is the only Minnesota course to appear in these prestigious rankings.

Continuing its reign as the best public course in the state, The Quarry finished 68th in the rankings. Designed by Jeff Brauer on a site of a former sand quarry and iron ore mine, The Quarry features dramatically raised tees and hazards forged from reclaimed and repurposed mine land, which sets this design apart and provides dramatic Iron Range vistas.

The rankings, which can be found in the May issue, last appeared in 2016-17. The latest Top 100 Courses You Can Play rankings include public-access courses in Canada, Mexico, Bermuda and the Caribbean, private clubs with a public component and any course the public can access as a nonmember.

The Quarry finished ahead of such noted courses as the 2021 U.S. Open host site the South Course at Torrey Pines, the Cove Club at Cabo del Sol in Mexico and Arnold Palmer’s Bay Hill Club & Lodge in Florida. Ranking just ahead of The Quarry on the Top 100 Courses You Can Play were the Red Course at Bethpage Black in New York (No. 66) and the TPC Stadium Course at PGA West in California (No. 67).

“We’re ecstatic The Quarry received this GOLF Magazine honor as one of the top public access courses in North America,” says John Kendall, Director of Golf. “Being selected as the only golf course in Minnesota in the Top 100 Courses You Can Play is the perfect way to begin our 2021 golf season.”

Giants Ridge opened its golf season on April 30, and is extending its spring rates – $79 seven days a week with a special $35 rate for juniors – through June 3. All rates include a golf cart rental, range balls and a yardage book.

Beginning June 4, Giants Ridge will reinstate its immensely popular 37-Hole Special. Dubbed “Minnesota’s Greatest Value in Golf,” the 37-Hole Special includes golf on both The Quarry and The Legend with lunch for $160 Monday – Thursday and $175 Friday – Sunday. Both rounds of golf and lunch must be redeemed on the same day, and other restrictions may apply. Lunch options are available at either Bunkers or the Wacootah Grille.

The Top 100 Courses You Can Play honor is the latest bestowed to Giants Ridge. GOLF Magazine also tabbed Giants Ridge one of the best golf resorts for families in the publication’s inaugural ranking of North America’s Top 100 Golf Resorts.

Recently, Giants Ridge received Golf Digest’s highly coveted “Editor’s Choice Award” in the Best Golf Resorts in the Midwest Category. Celebrating the “best of the best” golf destinations, Giants Ridge was one of only eight resorts listed in the Midwest and the only destination in Minnesota. Other prestigious properties named include The American Club, Arcadia Bluffs, Erin Hills, Forest Dunes, French Lick, The Inn at Bay Harbor and Sand Valley. The 2021 award marked the third consecutive year Giants Ridge has received this honor from Golf Digest.
