Honma’s TR20V Iron Named “Most Wanted Player’s Iron” in MyGolfSpy Testing

(CARLSBAD, CALIF.)
– In its well-read “2020 Most Wanted” testing, popular golf website MyGolfSpy.com has named Honma’s TR20V irons its Most Wanted Player’s Irons – singling out the irons as the test’s leader in Strokes Gained for mid and long irons and among the leaders in Total Distance. MyGolfSpy’s report is a completely unbiased and independent compilation encompassing 17 player’s iron models from all of the major manufacturers, 240 hours of research and 16,320 shots struck.

Player’s irons from multiple manufacturers were tested in Strokes Gained, Ball Speed, Launch, Spin, Height, Descent, Carry Yardage and Total Yardage categories with the TR20V iron leading the cumulative tally for all parameters measured.

“We are thrilled that our TR20V irons were named the overall winner for MyGolfSpy’s Most Wanted Player’s Iron testing,” Chris McGinley, Honma Golf’s North American general manager. “This recognition by one of the leading club-testers in the industry solidifies the TR20 quality design, construction, and proprietary Honma forging process that is ideal for competitive golfers and low handicaps, yet suitable for higher single-digit handicaps, too.”

The TR20V is a true players iron that delivers impressive distance. Showing off a handsome, traditional one-piece cavity back head design, the TR20V is forged from soft S20C carbon steel and helps launch shots quick and high, but with control. It features a slightly shorter blade length and thin topline that better golfers prefer, as well as a recessed electroform Honma mole logo in the cavity as a nod to the great forged irons of the company’s past. The TR20V’s sole is wide enough to promote desirable launch with enhanced camber for crisp turf interaction.

The responsive feel in the TR20V comes from the combination of material, construction and design. S20C carbon steel delivers preferred feel, while the blade size, shape and cavity design – including the ideal combination of face thickness and perimeter weighting – create the soft, but solid, feel.

The TR20V is available with the Honma constructed VIZARD TR20 85 graphite and Nippon Modus 105 shafts as standard options. The VIZARD graphite shafts are made in Sakata, Japan and designed with advanced, premium Toray materials to feature a stiffer tip section for trajectory control. In addition, the Honma counter taper Golf Pride Plus 2 grip reduces tension in the lower hand while sporting a new soft-feeling compound.
