(Maui, Hawaii) – Kapalua Golf’s PLAY for P.I.N.K. golf event held on Sunday, October 18th raised $1,815 for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Sixty golfers participated in the tournament played on Kapalua Golf’s Bay Course with a portion of the green fees and 100% of the proceeds from the raffle donated to Play for P.I.N.K.. The event also included a complimentary pre-tournament golf clinic with Kapalua Golf’s PGA teaching professionals.
PLAY for P.I.N.K. (Prevention, Immediate diagnosis, New technology, Knowledge) supports a nationwide network of volunteers who raise money for breast cancer research through sporting and lifestyle events to speed advances in prevention, detection, treatment and survivorship. Play for P.I.N.K. donates 100% of its proceeds to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. To date, PLAY for P.I.N.K. has raised more than $62 million for breast cancer research.
The Play for P.I.N.K. golf tournament and golf clinic are part of Troon Women’s Golf Month and Breast Cancer Awareness Month being supported at Troon-affiliated facilities around the world. Throughout the month, Troon-managed golf properties are flying pink checkered flags on their 18th greens to help raise awareness about breast cancer prevention and screening exams. Now in its seventh year, the goal of Troon Women's Golf Month is to introduce more golfers to the game, regardless of age, race or gender.
“Our Play for P.I.N.K. tournament was a tremendous success,” said Alex Nakajima, general manager, Kapalua Golf & Tennis. “A special mahalo to all who played in the event as well as to our sponsors Callaway, Nike Golf and The Pour House Restaurant for their support of the tournament.”
