Pistorius Captures First-Career Win Using Honma TR20 Driver

Win comes at MacKenzie Tour’s Canada Life Series at TPC Toronto

(CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA) – South African-born Albert Pistorius conquered high winds and a stacked leaderboard at the MacKenzie Tour’s Canada Life Series at TPC Toronto: Heathlands Course event to secure a final-round, one-under-par 70 to claim his first professional victory by a single shot. Playing a Honma TR20 460 driver with a Made-in-Sakata, Japan Honma Vizard 75 X shaft, Pistorius rode an eagle-par-birdie start in the final round and fought hard in the difficult conditions to outlast Andrew J. Funk, Callum Davison and Yi Cao by a single shot.

This win was especially sweet for Pistorius, who first turned pro in 2005. Having taken a break from the game in 2013, it was working in recent years as a teaching professional at Calgary, Alberta’s Pinebrook Golf and Country Club that inspired him to give competitive golf another try at the start of the 2019 season. That turned out to be the right move as Pistorius now sits in the second position on The MacKenzie Tour’s Canada Life Series Points List with one event left to play. The winner of that four-tournament series earns a playing spot in the PGA TOUR’s 2021 RBC Canadian Open.

“Congratulations to Albert Pistorius on what we believe will be the first of many professional wins,” says Honma General Manager Chris McGinley. “Albert’s victory with the TR20 460 driver validates the exceptional speed, control and overall performance of Honma equipment and our commitment to combine modern performance with beautiful craftsmanship to help golfers compete at the game’s highest level, lower their handicap, or just play better in their weekly game.”

TR20 drivers feature a unique full-carbon clamshell body on a fast titanium frame and come in two distinct player-proven head shapes with outstanding performance characteristics. TR20 460 is a full-profile driver that is deeper front-to-back with a swept crown to bolster confidence, playability and stability. The TR20 440 features a compact profile that sits higher in the back for a classic appearance.

Honma’s holistic design process includes a precisely-oriented shaft spine for impact repeatability. Made-in-Japan Sakata VIZARD shafts are a premium upgrade that comes standard in every Honma driver, providing a superior overall club.

Golfers seeking effortless power and preferred feel in a driver that can be configured for optimal ball flight will enjoy the TR20’s high performance design and customization options.  Learn more about the TR20 line and Honma Mobile Experience fittings across North America at www.honmagolf.com.
