Youth on Course Now Offers Access to Golfers in Texas

Texas Golf Association Partnership Expands Program’s Reach to 75% of the United States

(PEBBLE BEACH, Calif.) – Youth on Course – the non-profit organization providing young people with access to opportunities through subsidized golf, college scholarships, paid internships and a caddie program – partners with the Texas Golf Association to introduce affordable rounds of golf in the Lone Star state.

The partnership opens the doors to affordable golf for more than 1.9 million of the approximately 2.5 million junior golfers across the country; the program now provides opportunities to kids in 35 states and Canada. The number of young golfers impacted by YOC's life-changing opportunities has increased by 47% as members have played nearly 45% more subsidized rounds in 2019. Additionally, Youth on Course has reimbursed $1.36 million to participating courses, a 38% increase from 2018. Since 2006, juniors have completed more than 960,000 rounds while the organization has helped generate over $6.3 million in tee-time revenue back to individual golf courses.

“We couldn’t be more excited to introduce our junior golfers to accessible and affordable golf,” says Stacy Dennis, executive director of Texas Golf Association. “Partnering with Youth on Course was a no-brainer because it helps families and course operators; we can’t wait to see the impact this proven-method of growing the game has in our local market.”

Young golfers ages 6-17 in San Antonio will be able to join the Youth on Course national network. Benefits include access to golf for $5 or less at nearly 1,300 facilities, membership to local state and regional golf association, ability to apply for college scholarships and paid internships. Golfers in San Antonio can sign up for a Youth on Course membership here: www.txga.org/youthoncourse.

Within San Antonio, all eight courses in the Alamo City Golf Trail – Brackenridge Park Golf Course, Cedar Creek Golf Course, Mission del Lago Golf Course, Northern Hills Golf Course, Olmos Basin Golf Course, Riverside Golf Course, San Pedro Golf Course and Willow Springs Golf Course – will offer affordable tee times to local and national Youth on Course members. More courses will be announced in the coming months.

“The number of juniors golfers we’ll be able to reach through this partnership with the TGA is immense,” says David Baker, Youth on Course Board Chair. “We look forward to the chance to impact new communities and further our core purpose of providing young people with access to opportunities across the state of Texas.”

More than 70,000 Youth on Course members played nearly 200,000 rounds in 2019. In addition to subsidizing youth golf rounds, Youth on Course also facilitates college scholarships, paid internships and a caddie program. Since the inception of the scholarship program in 2008, they have awarded 241 students with scholarships totaling more than $1.7 million in financial support. The current Youth on Course scholarship retention rate is 93%, with 151 students already graduated.
