(Monroe Township, NJ)—New Jersey’s Forsgate Country Club enjoys the enviable reputation as a first-class venue for significant national, regional and state professional, amateur and charity tournaments. The historic Banks Course, as well as the Palmer Course, have both hosted many of golf’s legendary PGA TOUR and LPGA champions.
The tradition of notable events continues this year with the United States Golf Association having selected Forsgate as a Sectional Qualifying site for the 2019 U.S. Women’s Open. The qualifier will be held on April 23 and some of the world’s best women golfers will hope to tame the Banks Course and gain entry into the national championship at the Country Club of Charleston. In addition, the club will welcome the top boys and girls golfers for the AJGA (American Junior Golf Association) CBS Sports Preview Event on May 3-5 on the Palmer Course. The Banks Course also hosts a Met Open Championship qualifier on July 22.
LPGA legend Jan Stephenson, a 2019 inductee into the World Golf Hall of Fame, returns to Forsgate on July 20 for her charity tournament that benefits the Crossroads Foundation, an organization founded by Jan to support combat wounded, blind/disabled veterans and first responders.
“We are honored to be approached year after year by leading philanthropic groups and state golf associations that request having their events and tournaments here at Forsgate,” said Chris Schiavone, Forsgate’s managing partner. “Our club has been honored to host a premier LPGA tournament as well as numerous charity exhibitions and special events that have featured some of the world’s greatest golfers. Legendary players such as Arnold Palmer, Johnny Miller, Lee Trevino, Nancy Lopez, Annika Sorenstam and many others have graced our fairways and enjoyed our challenging courses.”
In the late 1970’s, Forsgate hosted the LPGA Coca-Cola Classic. Nancy Lopez, the 1978 champion, launched her extraordinary career with the record-setting mark of five consecutive tournament victories that began at Forsgate. From 2003-2011, the popular Forsgate Foundation Charity Golf Classic featured a who’s who of PGA TOUR, PGA CHAMPIONS and LPGA stars.
Forsgate Country Club looks forward to upholding its rich tradition of hosting memorable events for many years to come.
