The Bank of Hope Founders Cup Announces Entitlement Day Sponsor

LPGA Tournament Will Celebrate World Water Day with Golf Fore Africa

(PHOENIX) – The ninth annual LPGA Bank of Hope Founders Cup is excited to announce Betsy King’s Golf Fore Africa as the official Entitlement Day sponsor on Friday, March 22, which is also World Water Day.

Golf Fore Africa, founded by LPGA Hall of Fame golfer Betsy King in 2007, is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that aims to fund lifesaving initiatives that bring clean drinking water to the disadvantaged children and families in African nations.  Since its inception, the organization has installed more than 150 water wells, funded 12 mechanized systems and raised more than $3 million for its mission.

“Each of us wants to leave a legacy, to impact the world in a great way,” said King. “This is our chance to be the generation that ends the global water crisis. There are 844 million people around the world that lack access to clean, safe drinking water and we can change that.”

The organization will have 10 virtual reality stations set up at the Bank of Hope Founders Cup where event goers will experience “a walk for water,” simulating what African citizens have to go through daily. Visitors can also take part in attempting a trick shot into a container of water and learn about the “Give $10 Get 10” campaign.

“Having access to clean water should not be a privilege, it should be a undeniable right to every human being,” said Scott Wood, tournament director. “We are excited to share the amazing work this organization is doing and bring it to our loyal LPGA fans.”

Golf Fore Africa is also a supporting sponsor of the inaugural Women’s Leadership Forum, taking place on Thursday, March 21. At the forum moderated by LPGA major champion Karen Stupples, guests will hear from keynote speaker Roberta Bowman and interact with a Q&A panel featuring influential Valley women like Filippa McDougall, Jamie Rahaeuser and Beth McDonald.

The Bank of Hope Founders Cup, taking place from March 19 to 24, was created to honor the 13 women who founded the LPGA in 1950. Last year, a record performance by Olympic gold medalist Inbee Park clinched her 19th LPGA win at the 2018 Bank of Hope Founders Cup.
