October Episode of Traveling Golfer Spotlights Wyndham Orlando and International Drive

(VIDEO) - The Wyndham Orlando Resort International Drive dates back to the 1980s and, because of its convenient location, has been a favorite of business and vacation visitors ever since. But now its popularity has soared as it is positioned as a totally renovated resort in the midst of the amazing renaissance taking place on International Drive.

The two-story, campus-style resort has partnered with the Golf and Gamble travel packaging company to provide a wide range of golf packages that feature affordable, good golf and the nightly convenience of staying in the middle of the action on International Drive.

The story of Wyndham's resurgence and its participation in the golf packages with area courses is the centerpiece of the October episode of the award-winning Traveling Golfer television show. Show host Tony Leodora introduces the viewers to the courses featured in this show, such as Rio Pinar, Metro West and Hunter's Creek.

"The idea is to build an inverse golf trip," explains Gary Shea, director of Golf and Gamble. "Instead of staying at a golf course, then driving around at night to find restaurants and entertainment, in Orlando golfers drive to the golf course, then come back to the Wyndham Orlando and can walk to all of the exciting attractions along International Drive. It makes a lot of sense and is much safer."

The entire International Drive area, conveniently close to the massive Orange County Convention Center and Orlando International Airport, has been reinvigorated lately. Entertainment complexes, businesses and restaurants have come to the area and made it a viable attraction.

"The energy that exists along I-Drive is amazing," says John Goodman, director of sales and marketing for Wyndham Orlando. "The total renovation of our property is only part of it. We are adjacent to the Coca-Cola Eye, a restaurant and entertainment complex that features a 50-story high observation wheel, the largest on the East Coast. Visitors take a 22-minute ride that affords them amazing views of Central Florida. And even more is planned for the area."

The October episode runs throughout the month on the Traveling Golfer network of websites ... including The Golf Director Network (see full list of sites on travelinggolfervideo.com). It also will air on Monday, October 9 as part of the Press Box television show in Myrtle Beach, 5 to 7 p.m. on HTC Ch. 4. The Traveling Golfer also airs as a scheduled weekly feature show on NBC Sports Philadelphia and NBC Sports Philadelphia+ throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions. NBC Sports Philadelphia airings are 10:30 a.m. Sundays and 4:30 p.m. Thursdays. NBC Sports Philadelphia+ airs the show at 6 p.m. Mondays and Fridays.

As part of every Traveling Golfer show there is the additional feature, "Tech Talk", hosted by Tour Edge Golf experts, such as President Dave Glod. With years of experience as a club maker, Glod presents an inside look at the research and development of high-quality golf equipment.

Responding to golfers' never-ending demands to learn more about interesting golf courses and golf resorts across the country and around the world, well-traveled host Tony Leodora created the Traveling Golfer so he could take viewers on video trips to some of the most exciting golf locations. The show repeated for the second straight year as the No. 1 Golf Television Show in America in the prestigious International Network of Golf Awards, presented at the PGA Merchandise Show in January.

The Traveling Golfer is a series of monthly shows hosted by Leodora, who has 16 years of experience in televised golf. The featured destination stays on the website for one month, before being replaced by a new show. The old shows are archived for continued viewing on home website, www.travelinggolfervideo.com.
