Secret Golf Debuts Gaby Lopez Player Channel

Rising LPGA professional becomes 12th player with video content

(JACKSONVILLE, Fla.) – When she was young growing up in Mexico City, Gaby Lopez idolized future World Golf Hall of Fame member Lorena Ochoa. In addition to a career that yielded 27 LPGA victories, Ochoa’s personality, gift of giving back, and promoting golf in her home country left a lasting impression on the young Lopez. Now 23, Lopez has an opportunity to do the same thing as a member of Team Secret Golf and today the company announced the debut of her Player Channel on the SecretGolf.com website, golf’s ultimate backstage pass into the life of a Tour player.

Lopez becomes the 12th professional with video content on the popular website and the third LPGA player with her own Player Channel. She also becomes not only the youngest player but also the second University of Arkansas alum with her own Player Channel, joining Stacy Lewis, a two-time LPGA Tour Player of the Year.

“I am excited about this new venture and with my own channel on SecretGolf.com, I can now reach a vast audience and share my story,” Lopez said. “Coming from Mexico, I now have an opportunity to help grow the game using a different medium and I think golf fans that follow me all over the world will enjoy the content.”

The personable Lopez took up the game of golf at age 4 and first earned attention when she won both the Callaway Junior World Championship and the Mayakoba Junior Classic in 2010. She went on to earn a scholarship to the University of Arkansas and won three titles for the Lady Razorback women’s golf team. She was a first-team All-SEC selection in both 2014-15 and was the individual runner-up at the 2015 NCAA Women's Golf Championship.

Lopez turned professional in the fall of 2015 and immediately earned a spot on the LPGA after finishing T10 at the final stage of the LPGA Qualifying Tournament. In her rookie season on the LPGA, Lopez recorded nine top-25 finishes and finished third in the 2016 Louise Suggs Rolex Rookie of the Year standings. However, the highlight of her season was representing her country in the Rio Olympic Games.

Thus far in 2017, she has registered a pair of top- 10 finishes in June,  including her best ever performance on the LPGA - T7 at the ShopRite LPGA Classic near Atlantic City, NJ.

“Gaby is the most exciting young player I’ve been around in a long time. She works hard on her golf, is realistic about her goals, and she’s very smart,” said Steve Elkington, the co-founder of SecretGolf.com and a 10-time PGA Tour winner and major champion. “She’s energetic which comes through on her Player Channel and I think golf fans are going to love her.”

In addition to Lewis and Elkington, Lopez now joins World Golf Hall of Fame member Jackie Burke Jr., 2013 PGA Championship winner Jason Dufner, 2016 U.S. Women’s Open champion Brittany Lang as well as PGA Tour professionals Ryan Palmer, Colt Knost, Jason Kokrak, Jason Gore, Pat Perez and former Tour player turned instructor Bradley Hughes among the group of professionals with their own Player Channel on the site.

Other Player Channels to debut in the remainder of  2017 include LPGA and Web.com Tour members Gerina and Martin Piller, Brian Harman, the winner of this year's Wells Fargo Championship on the PGA Tour, Patton Kizzire of the PGA Tour who was the 2015 Web.com Tour Player of the Year and Ethan Tracy of the Web.com Tour.
