Arnie's Army Expands Arnie’s March against Children’s Cancer into New Markets Nationwide

Arnie’s March Now Part of the Schedule at Four Premier PGA Tour Events; Marches Support Golf Legend’s Lifetime Mission of Philanthropy

(ORLANDO, Fla.) – Arnie's Army Charitable Foundation (AACF), the organization created to support golf legend Arnold Palmer’s lifetime mission of philanthropy, has announced that Arnie’s March Against Children's Cancer has expanded its footprint to new markets nationwide.

Now, in addition to being one of the signature fundraising events at the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard, the annual PGA TOUR stop at Bay Hill Club & Lodge, Arnie’s March Against Children’s Cancer is a part of the weekly line-up of special events at three premier PGA TOUR events, including the recent World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational at Firestone Country Club in Akron, OH; the Dell Technologies Championship at TPC Boston in Norton, MA; and the 2017 TOUR Championship at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, GA. Arnie’s March is a unique fundraising model that allows PGA TOUR events and their local chldren’s hospital to showcase the strength and impact of their partnership, providing an opportunity to recognize and honor cancer patients, their families, hospital staff, and community supporters. The goal of each Arnie’s March is to generate significant, local philanthropic support for the children’s hospitals in unique ways that TOUR events provide.

“The reality that Arnie’s March Against Children’s Cancer has expanded beyond Orlando would make my dad smile,” said Amy Palmer Saunders, AACF Chairman of The Board. “He was committed to so many philanthropic initiatives throughout his life, but supporting children in their fight against cancer and other debilitating diseases was always a priority. I know we are making him proud every day, especially in expanding the Arnie’s March campaign.”

Saunders adds, “With the unwavering support of the PGA TOUR, and marquee tournaments around the country, we expect Arnie’s Marches will expand as we move forward with our goal of supporting children’s hospitals nationwide.”

Arnie's March Against Children's Cancer was established in 2012 as a fundraising walk held annually during the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard. The 2017 event raised more than $300,000 to support pediatric cancer research and clinical trials at Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children in Orlando, FL. The inaugural Arnie’s March Ohio, which took place during the recent Bridgestone Invitational in Akron, raised money to benefit the tournament’s Signature Charities, Akron Children’s Hospital and University Hospital’s Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital. The final events this year include Arnie’s March Boston, which will take place during Dell Technologies Championship week, benefitting the MassGeneral Hospital for Children Cancer Center, followed by Arnie’s March Atlanta, which will take place at the TOUR Championship and supports the Aflac Cancer & Blood Disorders Center of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

Arnie’s Army Charitable Foundation was established in 2015 to help fulfill Mr. Palmer’s lifelong passion of investing in the well-being and development of children and youth, supporting health and wellness initiatives and strengthening both communities and the environment. Today, AACF has been entrusted to carry on the legacy of Mr. Palmer in marching toward a better tomorrow, while enhancing his commitment of caring & giving back by expanding into new communities across the nation.

For decades, Arnold and Winnie Palmer dedicated unwavering time and resources through their philanthropic endeavors, especially in Orlando, through the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children and the Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies, as well as in Arnold’s hometown of Latrobe, Pennsylvania through the Winnie Palmer Nature Reserve.

Adds Saunders, “The AACF’s strategy centers on celebrating a Life Well Played by pushing forward on my Dad’s unmatched commitment to philanthropy, and a lifetime dedicated to making lives better around the world.”
