TGA Premier Golf Expansion Continues with New Franchise in Arizona

Second junior golf program impacting youth, schools, and families launches in Tucson

(Tucson, AZ) – The fastest growing junior golf program, TGA Premier Golf, continues to expand and impact the state of Arizona adding a second golf franchise in the Tucson community.

A former mortgage broker and club operations manager, Mike Owens was looking for a new career opportunity in the sports world. He discovered a business opportunity where entrepreneurialism is changing the landscape of how to grow sports at the grassroots level.

In addition to acquiring his recent TGA Premier Golf franchise, he has also launched a new TGA Premier Tennis franchise and TGA Premier Sports franchise. Owens’ franchises will cover the areas of Marana, Rita Ranch, and Vail including Catalina Foothills, Oro Valley, Casas Odobes, and Tanque Verde and encompass not only golf and tennis, but also flag football, cheerleading, lacrosse, floor hockey, volleyball and ultimate (frisbee).

“The TGA model of bringing golf directly to the schools is not unique as other industry initiatives have done this in various ways for years,” Owens said. “What is unique is that TGA has unlocked the secret of vesting entrepreneurs like myself to make the sport available to everyone in a community through schools and consistent programming with a pathway to success in that particular sport.”

School districts impacted by the new program will include TUSD (Tucson Unified), Vail School District, Tanque Verde School District, Catalina Foothills School District, Marana School District and a variety of private schools, and community centers.

TGA’s innovative program solves the primary barriers to entry into golf by delivering introductory programs directly at schools and community centers through before- or after-school enrichment programs. The self-sustaining, no funding needed business model puts golf on a level playing field with other mainstream sports and creates a healthier and safer environment for students to be introduced to and learn golf. The program can also be utilized anywhere on school campuses regardless of weather, including gymnasiums, hallways, cafeterias, fields and blacktops.

TGA has also created the Player Pathway, the first program of its kind in the industry, which is having a major economic impact on its more than 250 golf course partners nationwide. Once the students go through the introductory programs, TGA transitions them and their families from the school to partner golf courses through recreational programs such as summer camps (over 2,000 nationwide), leagues and parent-child events, which results in revenue from TGA as well as increased traffic and incremental revenues through green fees, food/beverage, and merchandise sales.

What differentiates TGA is the station-based curriculum that includes golf skill progression, education subjects and STEAM Labs, as well as physical fitness and health components. In addition, TGA provides all of the equipment at no cost including its own line of custom fitted youth golf clubs.

“By offering golf to the schools at a reasonable price where the kids are already at the school, it makes the decision process (logistics and price) much easier,” explains Owens.  “The parents are more apt to have their child give it a try if its super convenient and affordable. This business has a large upside opportunity as there are many grade schools, with hundreds of potential golfers in each.”
