Bank of Hope Founders Cup Teams up with Special Olympics Arizona
(PHOENIX, Ariz.) – The LPGA Bank of Hope Founders Cup is excited to announce local Special Olympics Arizona member Amy Bockerstette will play in the 2017 Bank of Hope Founders Cup Pro-Am on Wednesday, March 15, at Wildfire Golf Club at JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort & Spa. The Pro–AM is the kickoff to the tournament that begins Thursday, March 16, and concludes with a championship round on Sunday, March 19.
"The opportunity to partner with Special Olympics Arizona means a chance to draw awareness to an amazing organization and introduce new families to golf all while honoring one of Arizona's Olympians," said Tracy Hupko, sales & marketing manager for the Bank of Hope Founders Cup.
Bockerstette is a junior at Sandra Day O’Connor High School and plays on the varsity golf team. She is also an active member of LPGA-USGA Girls Golf Phoenix. Girls Golf is a nationwide organization that has a local chapter that works with girls to instill knowledge and confidence in their golf game and everyday lives. Playing golf has helped foster positivity in Bockerstette’s life and taught her about perseverance.
"It's a huge point of pride to be able to congratulate Amy on her success and watch her compete in the LPGA tournament," said Tim Martin, Special Olympics Arizona (SOAZ) president and CEO. "Her hard work and dedication to the sport has inspired us all at SOAZ and serves as a moving reminder of all the things we can accomplish despite adversity."
Special Olympics members and their families will have free admission on Wednesday, March 15.
Some notable former Bank of Hope Founders Cup Pro-AM players include Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald, LPGA player Michelle Wie and former Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Russ Ortiz.
