U.S. Amateur Logo Designed for Major at The Riviera Country Club, Aug. 14-20, 2017

(LOS ANGELES, CA) — The Riviera Country Club has designed the green and gold crest logo for the 2017 United States Amateur Golf Championship to be played there from August 14-20, 2017.

The logo will be featured on all collateral, signage and merchandise promoting the United States Golf Association championship at the famed Pacific Palisades, CA course.

The U.S. Amateur was first played in 1895 and is the USGA’s oldest championship. The championship is open to amateur golfers with a USGA Handicap Index not exceeding 2.4. The 2016 championship will be played at Oakland Hills Country Club in Bloomfield Hills, MI, August 15-21.

Many of golf’s greats have won the U.S. Amateur, including Robert T. Jones Jr., Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods.

The Riviera Country Club will become the 11th course to have hosted the U.S. Open, U.S. Senior Open and U.S. Amateur.

The Riviera Country Club, designed by George C. Thomas Jr.,  opened for play in 1927 and has played host to two PGA Championships in 1983 and 1995, one U.S. Open in 1948 and one U.S. Senior Open in 1998.

Bel-Air Country Club in Los Angeles, also a George Thomas design, will serve as the companion course for the stroke-play rounds for the 2017 U.S. Amateur. Bel-Air has hosted two USGA championships—the 1976 U.S. Amateur and the 2004 USGA Senior Amateur.
