Day, Johnson, Spieth Headline Field at Deutsche Bank Championship for 2nd Stop of Playoffs

Five Members of European Ryder Cup Team & Captain Darren Clarke in Field at Omega European Masters in Switzerland as Willett Defends

(ORLANDO, Fla.) – The PGA TOUR stages the second leg of the FedExCup Playoffs this week, where the top-100 in the current standings are eligible to compete at the Deutsche Bank Championship outside of Boston. Due to the holiday weekend, the event will begin on Friday and is scheduled to conclude on Monday, airing exclusively on Golf Channel and NBC. Jason Day, Dustin Johnson, Jordan Spieth, Henrik Stenson and Rory McIlroy headline the field.

The LPGA Tour is in Ontario, Canada for the Manulife LPGA Classic, where the top-three ranked players in the world headline the field: Lydia Ko, Ariya Jutanugarn and Canada’s Brooke Henderson.

The European Tour is in Switzerland for the Omega European Masters, where European Ryder Cup captain Darren Clarke will be joined by five members of his team: Matthew Fitzpatrick, Andy Sullivan, Lee Westwood, Danny Willett and Chris Wood.

And the PGA TOUR Champions also are in Canada for the Shaw Charity Classic, where Bernhard Langer and Tom Watson headline the field.

Friday start, Monday finish due to holiday weekend: Due to the holiday weekend, the opening round of the Deutsche Bank Championship begins Friday, Sept. 2, and the final round is scheduled to conclude on Monday, Sept. 5. The top-100 players in the FedExCup standings following The Barclays are eligible to compete, and the top-70 in the standings following Monday’s final round will advance to the BMW Championship next week outside of Indianapolis.

Fowler defends: Rickie Fowler finished one stroke ahead of Henrik Stenson to earn his third career PGA TOUR victory.
