Troon to Manage Contra Costa Country Club

Rejuvenated Club Completes Impressive RTJII Course Renovation Project

(Scottsdale, Ariz.) – Troon, the leader in upscale golf course management, development, and marketing, has been selected to manage Contra Costa Country Club, located in the Bay Area in Pleasant Hill, Calif.

Offering not only one of the finest and purest tests of golf in Northern California, Contra Costa Country Club provides a unique environment that is both family-friendly and socially enriching. The club’s 18-hole golf course has recently been redesigned by Robert Trent Jones II, creating a modern experience while still fully respecting the 1925 original intent of architect A. Vernon Macan. Included in the renovation is an enhanced practice facility and improved playing conditions comprised of new bunkers throughout the course. Challenging, fair and yet comfortably walk-able, members enjoy a stroll through the manicured landscaped of dramatic native oaks, tall eucalyptus, magnificent deodar cedars and ageless redwood trees that frame dramatic views to Mt. Diablo and beyond.

“We are thrilled to have been selected by Contra Costa Country Club,” stated Jim McLaughlin, senior vice president, Troon Privé Operations. “The club has recently added to its long-established reputation by completing a truly impressive renovation project and we are confident that our management practices will only contribute to the enhanced member experience.”

The new RTJII practice facility has everything a golfer needs to work on all aspects of their game. With a 40-yard deep full-grass tee box, extended range area, and 20 spacious hitting stalls, members enjoy plenty of room to sharpen their skills. Also included in the new practice facility are dedicated putting and chipping greens and a variety of bunkers and a hard-lie practice area. Remaining as a long-standing initiative, Contra Costa continues to utilize reclaimed water, while also respecting the need to remove areas from play with a return to native grassing.

“Contra Costa Country Club is a great example of renovating an existing course with great history,” said Robert Trent Jones, Jr. “We revitalized Contra Costa, keeping in the spirit of Macan's design philosophy and the result is a fun, strategic course that can be played many different ways.”

Contra Costa offers a variety of programs available for men, women, seniors, and junior golfers alike. Membership at the club truly offers a priceless investment for a lifetime of enjoyment for members and their entire families. The cornerstone of Contra Costa is the spacious clubhouse; offering spectacular views from atop an oak-shaded knoll with a beautiful pool, pool house and recreation area located nearby. Demonstrated by a vast list of social events, members and their families enjoy experiences and shared community at Contra Costa all year long.

“After much study, input from other private clubs and deliberation, our board of directors unanimously selected to partner with Troon to assist in the operational management of our club,” said Mike Hastings, Contra Costa Country Club’s president, board of directors. “Increased service, quality, consistency, and value along with improvements in financial and operational oversight are just a few of the benefits that Contra Costa will enjoy with this new partnership. Most importantly, these benefits come without sacrificing our club's unique culture or diminishing the ultimate authority of our members.”
