Cool Springs Launches New Golf Technology for Heated Outdoor Driving Range

Bethel Park Driving Range is Now the Leader in Golf Technology in Western PA

(Bethel Park, PA) - Cool Springs has extended its footprint on Pittsburgh’s golf technology map. With the newest addition of Protracer Range 3.0 on the heated driving range bays, Cool Springs has brought a whole new level of practice to the South Hills.

Located in Bethel Park, PA (1530 Hamilton Road), Cool Springs is an elaborate redevelopment project that began when PCG Capital made the purchase in 2013 with plans to convert the aging golf center into a modern athletic complex serving a variety of sports. The rehabbed golf facility opened in July 2014 and features a fully-turfed, two-story golf driving range, housing more than 50 hitting bays, state-of-the-art Golf simulation training rooms and a pro shop. By adding Protracer Range 3.0 technology to the bottom deck hitting bays, Cool Springs has become a haven for golfers.

“With the initial success of introducing the aboutGolf indoor simulator rooms to customers, additional golf technology was bound to expand due to high demand,” said Jeff Ellis, PGA Professional and Director of Golf Operations. “No other place in the Pittsburgh area can offer so much golf technology to its customers, and it is great to be at the forefront of this movement in western Pennsylvania.”

Protracer’s advanced tracking sensor and software technology captures all shots that are hit on a driving range and provides the golfer with accurate ball flight data. It is a fixed installation featuring two tracking sensors placed approximately 30 meters (100 feet) apart. The system accurately pinpoints each shot hit in between the tracking sensors and delivers ball flight data back to the player via the Protracer Range Kiosk. Golfers can enjoy games and competitions through the Protracer Range Kiosk setup at eight of the heated bays year-round. The practice mode of Protracer will help golfers of all skill levels get instant feedback on how they are doing, as well as allow them to get their practice session immediately emailed to them.

“The games are very addictive, whether you're playing them individually, against a friend or trying to move up the leaderboard at the range. You'll spend hours playing the games,” said Jon Sjostrom, Regional Sales Manager for Range Servant America.
