Legacy Golf Resort is Program’s 15th Facility Introducing the Sport to Arizona’s Youth

(GILBERT, Ariz.) – Golf is a sport that can be played for a lifetime and introducing the game to Valley youngsters is one of the goals of the First Tee of Phoenix program.

Currently with 14 Valley-wide locations, The First Tee of Phoenix is expanding its highly-popular program into the Legacy Golf Resort in Phoenix. A Grand Opening celebration is scheduled for Saturday, September 19. As part of the festivities, Craig Hocknull of the Outback Golf Academy and one of the world’s foremost golf trick shot artists will showcase his immense talents in a performance slated for 10:20am.

The native Australian and the 2014 Southwest Section – PGA of America Teacher of the Year dazzles his crowds with spectacular shot-making ability. “The First Tee Program does a marvelous job of attracting youngsters to the game of golf and more importantly, teaches them not only the proper fundamentals of the sport, but also the etiquette of the game,” said Hocknull. “It’s a great honor to be associated with the grand opening of their newest venture.”

The First Tee of Phoenix is a non-profit organization created for the purpose of providing affordable access to golf and golf learning facilities for young people in Maricopa County from all walks of life - particularly those who otherwise might not have an opportunity to play. It was designed to serve as a place for participants to learn valuable life skills and character lessons through creative activities and instructional programs that incorporate the fundamental teachings of golf. By using the fundamentals of golf, The First Tee of Phoenix equips youth with the skills needed to follow their dreams, advance academically and athletically, strengthen their social abilities and become productive members of their local community.

The First Tee of Phoenix programs are also located at Papago Golf Club, Longbow Golf Club, Palm Valley Golf Club, Augusta Ranch Golf Club and Talking Stick Golf Club, among others.
