(HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA) – Srixon and Cleveland Golf congratulate staffer Søren Kjeldsen for his victory at the 2015 Dubai Duty Free Irish Open held at the Royal County Down Golf Course, in Newcastle, Northern Ireland. The 40-year-old Dane began the final round two strokes ahead of the field, but his final round 76 was just enough to secure him a spot in the three way playoff, where he clinched the win with a birdie on the first playoff hole. The victory gave Kjeldsen his fourth European Tour title, but his first victory since winning the 2009 Open de Andalucía de Golf. The win also earned Kjeldsen a spot in the field at St. Andrews for the Open Championship in July.
“It is amazing to be holding the trophy but then I felt good coming into the tournament,” said Kjeldsen. “I played well in my last two tournaments and while I was not in contention I had the chance today to change all that. You reach 40 and you start to wonder will you ever get back to playing those bigger events like playing the Masters or will I ever play The Open again. But then I kept waiting and kept working hard on my game so this win is a huge step back towards playing in all those big events again.”
Kjeldsen played with Srixon’s new 4th generation Z STAR XV ball with SpinSkin Technology, Cleveland Golf 588 RTX 2.0 wedges (52°, 54°, 60°) and Cleveland 588 Forged CB irons (4-PW). Kjeldsen wears a Srixon hat, a Srixon glove, and carries a Srixon bag.
