$1.5 Million Enhancement Project on Robert Trent Jones, Sr., Signature Course is Highlighted by the Resurfacing of all Greens and a Strategic Bunker Renovation
(ORLANDO, Fla.) – MetroWest Golf Club, a Marriott Golf-managed facility, located just minutes from Orlando’s world-famous theme parks and attractions, welcomes players of all levels to the newly renovated course. Originally designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr., and measuring over 7,000 yards, the course underwent a $1.5 million renovation under the direction of Billy Fuller Golf Design of Atlanta, Ga.
The MetroWest refinement project is highlighted by the re-surfacing and enlargement of all 18 greens to a championship tournament standard, using TifEagle Bermuda grass, along with a strategic bunker renovation - a specialty of Billy Fuller Golf Design - that will create better escape opportunities, while providing golfers with greater angles of attack to the greens.
Complementing these changes are new, enlarged and resurfaced tee boxes (four per hole), as well as an expanded practice area complete with new putting and chipping greens. Additionally, with the implementation of new fairway patterns, which accentuate MetroWest’s trademark elevation changes, combined with strategic mounding around the greens and closely mown chipping areas, golfers will experience challenging approach shot opportunities and unique options around the greens. Backed by a new fleet of GPS-equipped golf cars, and premium TaylorMade rental clubs, the rejuvenated MetroWest golf course will offer a world-class golf experience to daily guests, local members and visitors to the Orlando-area.
“Our goal with this exciting course renovation project was to continue to challenge the best players, while using state-of-the-art design techniques to make the course faster and more enjoyable for everyday golfers and players of all levels,” said Steve Schaller, General Manager, MetroWest Golf Club. “We are thrilled to officially re-open the course and we are confident it will not only present a challenging test of golf, but one that’s highly enjoyable in an aesthetically pleasing environment.”
