Laredo’s Max A. Mandel Municipal Golf Course Recognized by Golf Digest as a Best New Course

(Laredo, Texas) - The Max A. Mandel Municipal Golf Course, designed by world-renowned architect Robert Trent Jones, Jr., is featured in the current issue of Golf Digest and listed among the Best New Courses for 2013.

“We are honored to know that The MAX is recognized by Golf Digest as one of the best new golf courses of the year. To have the endorsement of such a respected publication lends added credibility and gives us another reason to tout Laredo.  We have created a treasured quality of life enhancement for the community, a facility accessible to everyone and a whole new view of the edge of the country alongside the spectacular Rio Grande.  The MAX is the pride of the City of Laredo and we invite golfers from around the country to visit for a premium golf experience,” said Horacio De Leon, Jr., Assistant City Manager, City of Laredo, Texas.

Laredo, Texas is the beginning of the Lone Star state, and of a travel experience that is American, Texan and Mexican all in one.  Visit Laredo so that you can get that exclusive cultural artifact; be at the border of scenic beauty and embark on a culinary quest, you will see why Laredoans like to say they live on the edge.

The challenging Robert Trent Jones II Signature Design par-72 course sits on 270 acres along the Rio Grande and it caters to golfers of all ability levels, with five sets of tees available and yardages ranging from 7,069 from the back tees to 4,759 for the forward tees. A provision has been made for competitive tournament tees to be extended to 7,297 yards, and a dedicated “juniors” teeing area on each hole is incorporated to increase enjoyment for family play. Learning clinics also are being held and actively promoted at The Max to introduce golf to local residents.
