PING re-signs Horschel to multi-year agreement

(PHOENIX) – Billy Horschel has signed a multi-year agreement to continue playing PING golf equipment, according to John A. Solheim, PING Chairman & CEO.

For Horschel, 2013 was a breakout year. He earned his first PGA Tour win at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, draining a putt of nearly 27 feet on the 72nd hole. He also had second- and third-place finishes among his eight top 10s, plus a T4 at the U.S. Open. He made 22 of 26 cuts, just one reason that he earned more than $3.5 million. Horschel was a birdie machine, making 380 on the season, second-most on tour.

“Billy is an exciting young player who has a flair for the game and a likeable personality that has made him popular with fans and fellow tour pros,” Solheim said. “Consistency is one mark of true talent, and this year he was high up on leaderboards week in and week out, and he learned how to finish the job under pressure on Sunday afternoon. He has the shot-making skills and the confidence to go far in this game, and we look forward to watching him achieve his goals for years to come.”

As part of the agreement, Horschel, 26, will wear a PING hat, carry a PING staff bag and play PING equipment. Financial terms and the length of the agreement were not disclosed.

He is currently playing a G25 driver, 3-wood and 5-wood, new S55 irons, Tour Gorge wedges, and a Redwood Piper S custom putter. He is 35th in the most recent Official World Golf Ranking.

Horschel makes his home in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., and he has a bachelor’s degree in Sports Management from the University of Florida, where he began playing PING as a freshman on the Gators’ golf team. He signed with PING upon graduating in 2009.

“Continuing my association with PING gives me peace of mind as we begin the new season,” Horschel said. “I have full confidence in the quality of PING equipment, and the company has put its belief in me and they support me 100% on tour. It’s a true partnership, and they share in my success. I have a lot of goals for this season, so it’s great to have PING in my corner.”
