Ford's Colony Country Club Opens Blue Heron Golf Course

(WILLIAMSBURG, Va.) - Ford's Colony Country Club opened their brand new Champion Bermuda greens just nine weeks after sprigging the Blue Heron course. The new surfaces received rave reviews during a member event held on August 15th.

The Blue Heron course at Ford's Colony is the first in the market to make the move to the popular ultradwarf greens and is among the northern-most clubs to make the switch. Champion ultradwarf bermudagrass has been installed with great success throughout the southeast and on more than 530 courses in 16 states. This durable strain maintains high density during extreme temperatures and at low mowing heights, delivering smooth, consistent putting surfaces throughout the year. Ford's Colony is in great company with this selection. Sedgefield Country Club, site of this week's Wyndham Championship on the PGA tour converted this year and Pinehurst will use the same surfaces when they redo the venerable greens on the #2 course after the U.S. Opens next year.

Ford's Colony Country Club has seen a number of upgrades since new ownership took over earlier this year. Along with the new greens on the Blue Heron course, they also renovated all the bunkers on the Marsh Hawk course and added additional forward tees. The clubhouse interior is being redecorated and a new eco-friendly wash station is being installed in the maintenance department.

"It is an exciting time at Ford's Colony Country Club" said head PGA Professional Chris Haas. "We are making improvements in every department to better serve our members, guests, and daily fee players."
