MetroWest Golf Club Announces $1.5 Million Rejuvenation Project

Complete Course Renovation Project, to Include Resurfacing of all Greens withTifEagle Turf, will be Completed in November

(ORLANDO, Fla.) – When MetroWest Golf Club, home of a Robert Trent Jones, Sr., Signature Course, completes its renovation project in November, the golf course will continue to challenge the best players as one of Central Florida’s top-rated public venues. However, it will also be redesigned to make the game faster and more enjoyable for everyday golfers. Today, MetroWest, a Marriott Golf-managed facility that is located just 10 minutes from the world-famous Universal Studios, announced that its popular golf course will undergo a $1.5 million rejuvenation.

“We are very excited to undertake this course renovation project at MetroWest and further enhance what has long been considered an unmatched Orlando golfing experience,” said Steve Schaller, General Manager, MetroWest Golf Club. “Among our goals is to continually meet the demands of golfers of all playing levels. This renovation will not only be well received by better players, but it addresses two significant golfer demands that have been outlined by the USGA and The PGA of America, which is pace of play and the overall playability of today’s golf course layouts.”

Under the direction of Billy Fuller Golf Design of Atlanta, Ga., the project includes the resurfacing of all greens with TiftEagle turf – an ultradwarf Bermuda grass – that provides golfers with improved putting conditions, and will be complimented by a strategic bunker renovation. Additionally, all tee boxes will be laser leveled, and resurfaced, and the practice facilities will be expanded with a new teeing area.

Consistently voted one of Orlando 's best public golfing experiences, along with being a 2011 Golf Digest “Best Places To Play” 4-star award recipient, MetroWest is a classic and traditional style 18-hole public, Par 72 golf course. It offers four sets of tees measuring over 7,000 yards and features spring-fed lakes, mature native trees, expansive rolling fairways with dramatic elevation changes and large undulating greens surrounded by sculpted bunkers.

The MetroWest rejuvenation project is scheduled to be completed this November. While the course is closed, the popular practice facility at MetroWest will remain open, as will the golf shop, restaurants and special events venues at the facility.
