OB Sports and Ship Sticks Send Golf Equipment to Troops in Kuwait
(SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.) – OB Sports Golf Management and Ship Sticks recently partnered to send golf clubs, golf bags and golf balls to servicemen and women stationed in Kuwait. OB Sports gathered donated golf clubs, prior-generation practice range balls and donated golf bags from a number of Arizona OB Sports courses including ASU Karsten Golf Course, Tatum Ranch Golf Club, Eagle Mountain Golf Club as well as other corporate team member’s personal donations. Clubs were shipped via Ship Sticks shipping service to serviceman and women stationed in Camp Buerhing in Kuwait.
“The idea was prompted when we received a message on our Facebook Fan Page for ASU Karsten from Staff Sergeant Joseph Serafini, a golfer who was stationed in Kuwait,” stated Phil Green, principal and chief operating officer of OB Sports. “He basically said he was creating a ‘make shift’ driving range out of old camouflage netting for his fellow service men and women to utilize. He stated he only had an old beat-up 8 iron, an old driver and a handful of golf balls. We immediately gathered a good amount of donated items and reached out to our club shipping partner, Ship Sticks, who stepped up to partner with us to send them clubs, bags and golf balls.”
“Every day we ship clubs across the country and around the the world for golfers traveling for business or leisure pursuits, so it was personally rewarding to partner with OB Sports to send this equipment overseas,” stated Nicholas Coleman, Ship Sticks chief executive officer. “We were pleased to partner with OB Sports on this endeavor and get our troops some equipment to get their ‘golf fix’ in while abroad,” Coleman added.
