KemperSports Names Jim Fitzsimmons as General Manager of The Governors Club
(NORTHBROOK, Ill.) – KemperSports, the most trusted name in golf course management, recently announced the appointment of Jim Fitzsimmons to general manager of The Governors Club in Brentwood, Tenn., a suburb of Nashville.
With more than 30 years’ experience in the golf and country club industry, Fitzsimmons returns to the KemperSports team after 10 successful years as the general manager of Valencia Country Club in Valencia, Calif., a club previously managed by KemperSports. During his tenure at Valencia Country Club, Fitzsimmons was instrumental to the financial success and continued property improvements of the club. From 2002 to 2012, Fitzsimmons supervised a $2.5 million clubhouse and amenity reconstruction project at Valencia to improve the overall food and beverage experience, increased membership sales and developed a number of new social events for the membership.
“Jim is an experienced club manager with a passion for member service and keen attention to detail,” said Steve Skinner, chief executive officer for KemperSports. “We have big plans for the Governors Club and we will look to Jim to lead the capital improvement process while improving member and guest service.”
Prior to Valencia Country Club, Fitzsimmons was involved with some of the country’s finest clubs, including Langdon Farms Golf Club in Aurora, Ore., Sweetwater Country Club in Sugarland, Texas, and Bentwater Yacht & Country Club in Montgomery, Texas.
“The Governors Club is a well-respected private club in a great Nashville community and I look forward to working with the membership as we improve the club,” said Jim Fitzsimmons, KemperSports general manager of The Governors Club.
The Governors Club is a premier private golf club community and features more than 430 custom estate residences and world-class amenities, including an Arnold Palmer Signature Design Golf Course. The aesthetically inspiring 18-hole layout, spread across 200 acres of the development, showcases scenic stone and rockwork along with waterfalls and dramatic elevation changes.
