Titleist Tour Report: Jijai Shin Leads Brand to 7-Win Week

(Fairhaven, MA) - Titleist Pro V1 golf ball loyalist Jiyai Shin captured the Ricoh Women’s British Open in record fashion for her second victory in as many weeks, topping a list of seven champions across the worldwide professional tours that relied on Titleist golf balls for their winning success.

Seven more Titleist golf ball wins this week advances Titleist’s year-to-date victory total to 136, more than nine times the nearest competitor with 15.

Shin closed with a 1-over par 73 in strong winds and persistent rain for a 72-hole total of 9-under 279, a whopping nine shots clear of her nearest competitor.  Shin, who posted a new women's course record on Saturday with an 8-under par 64 at Hoylake, was the only player in the field to shoot under par for the tournament.  Her margin of victory was the greatest in Women’s British Open history, bettering the previous mark by four shots.  Shin's win is her ninth in less than five seasons on the LPGA Tour.  She won the Kingsmill Championship in a nine-hole playoff last week.

Titleist was the overwhelming golf ball choice at the Ricoh Women's British Open field of 144 with 100 (69%) players, more than seven times the nearest competitor with 13.

CHAMPIONS:  Willie Wood (Pro V1x) birdied the final two holes to capture the inaugural Hawaii Championship for his second Champions Tour victory in the last three events.  Wood, who won the Dick's Sporting Goods Open in a playoff last month, closed with a 6-under 66 to earn a one-stroke victory over Bill Glasson (Pro V1x).  Wood played 54 holes without a bogey, finishing at 14-under 202.  Peter Senior (Pro V1) birdied the final four holes for a 69 to finish solo third at 12-under.

Titleist was the most played golf ball at the event with 56 players (69%) in the field of 81, seven times the nearest competitor with 8.  Titleist was also the top choice in the wedge (56) category.

WEB.COM:  Rookie Luke Guthrie (Pro V1x) fired a final round 6-under 65 en route to a record-breaking four-shot win at the Albertsons Boise Open.  The 22-year old posted a tournament record 22-under par victory total and won for the first time as a professional.  
Four players shared second place, including Titleist golf ball loyalists Richard H. Lee (Pro V1), Scott Gardiner (Pro V1x) and Steve Wheatcroft (Pro V1x).

The victory advanced Guthrie to No. 4 on the Web.com money list, and assured him of earning his 2013 PGA Tour card with six events remaining on the Web.com Tour schedule.

Titleist was the most played golf ball at the event with 108 players (69%) in the field of 156, more than seven times the nearest competitor with 14.  Titleist was also the top choice in the iron (42), wedge (158) and putter (65) categories.

JAPAN:  Hiroyuki Fujita (Pro V1, 909H hybrids, Vokey Design SM4 wedges, Scotty Cameron putter) earned a come-from-behind victory at the ANA Open, firing a final round 68 en route to a one shot win.  It marked the third win of the year for Fujita, and the 14th of his 20-year JGTO career.  The performance moved him to the top of the 2012 Japan Tour money list.  Four players tied for second place, including Wen-Chong Liang (Pro V1x) and Kurt Barnes (Pro V1, MB irons, Vokey Design SM4 gap, sand and lob wedges, Scotty Cameron Newport 2 putter).

Titleist was the top choice of the ANA Open field in the golf ball category with 60 players, more than twice the nearest competitor.  Titleist also led the field in iron sets (24) and wedges (115).
       
ASIA: Titleist Brand Ambassador Gaganjeet Bhullar of India (Pro V1x, 910D2 driver/7.5, 910Fd fairway metal/13.5, AP2 irons, Vokey Design SM4 pitching/48, sand/54 and lob/60 wedges, Scotty Cameron Newport 2 putter) won the weather shortened Yeangder TPC held in Taipei, Taiwan.  The tournament was delayed due to a typhoon and inclement weather.

It marked the third career Asian Tour title for Bhullar, who started the third and final round with a one-shot lead over Thaworn Wiratchant of Thailand (Pro V1x).  Bhullar closed with a 3-under 69 to win by four shots over two players, including Wiratchant.  Wiratchant was coming off a win in Malaysia last week.

Titleist was the top choice of the 144-player Yeangder TPC field in the golf ball category with 97 players (67%), nearly five times the nearest competitor with 20.  Titleist also led the field in the iron and wedge categories.

KOREA:  Titleist Brand Ambassador DaeSub Kim (Pro V1, 913D3 driver, 910F fairway metals, 910H hybrids, MB irons, Vokey Design SM4 wedges), trusting the Pro V1 golf ball and a full bag of Titleist equipment , including the new 913 driver, captured the Dongbu Insurance Open one month after completing his two year military duty.  Kim closed with a 2-under par 70 to edge fellow Titleist Brand Ambassador DoHoon Kim (Pro V1x, 913D3 driver, 910F fairway metal, 910H hybrid, MB irons, Vokey Design wedges, Scotty Cameron putter) by four shots.  

Kim topped a leaderboard that included nine of the top 10 finishers relying upon Titleist golf balls for their success.

Titleist was the most played golf ball at the event with 85 players (64%) in the field of 132, more than four times the nearest competitor with 20.  Titleist was also the top choice in the wedge (128) and putter (60) categories.

LATIN AMERICA:  Ariel Cañete (Pro V1x) carded a final round 4-under 68 to win the TransAmerican Power Products Open by two shots.  Canete finished with an 18-under-par 270 victory total.  The Argentine had an eagle and eight pars on the front nine on Sunday and closed the tournament in style with a birdie at the last.  Tommy Cocha (Pro V1x), who won the tour's inaugural event last week, closed with a 67 to earn second place at 16-under par.

EUROPEAN:  Titleist Brand Ambassador Matteo Manassero (Pro V1x, 913D2 driver, 910H hybrid, AP2 irons, Vokey Design SM4 gap and lob wedges, Scotty Cameron Laguna 1.5 putter) and Gregory Bourdy (Pro V1x) shared third place at the Italian Open, four shots behind the champion, after closing with matching 65s.

Titleist was the top choice of more players in the Italian Open field of 156 in the golf ball category with 103 (66%), nearly six times the nearest competitor with 18.
