EWGA Names Freshley as Founder's Award Recipient

EWGA Pays Tribute to Kathryn Freshley with ‘Nancy Oliver Founder’s Award’

(PALM BEACH GARDENS, FLORIDA) – EWGA – the trend-setting organization which enables current and aspiring business and professional women to learn, connect and play through golf – has named Kathryn Freshley, of Orange County, Calif., as its 2011 Nancy Oliver Founder’s Award winner.

The Nancy Oliver Founder’s Award goes to the EWGA member who displays exceptional long-term volunteer leadership and service to the organization. The initial award was given to EWGA Founder, Nancy Oliver.

“As a volunteer-based organization with thousands of women giving their time and talents to run EWGA Chapters, it’s an honor for the EWGA to recognize Kathryn Freshley and reward our outstanding volunteer leaders,” said EWGA CEO Pam Swensen.

The EWGA annually recognizes those who have made long-time and outstanding contributions to women's golf. EWGA also recognizes members who best utilize golf and the EWGA to advance their careers.

A member of the EWGA Orange County, CA Chapter, Freshley is founder and tournament director of the EWGA California Cup. She was the 2007 club champion of Laguna Woods Village (LWV) 18-Hole Women's Golf Club, a member of LWV Contract Bridge Club and former Vestry Finance Chair, St. Clement's By-the-Sea Episcopal Church, San Clemente, CA.

Freshley's current civic and social activities include her being on the Laguna Woods Village HOA Board of Directors. LWV is a 6,102-unit condominium complex, and she was Treasurer the past three years. She is the current President and Seminar leader, Foreign Policy Association, of the HOA Board.

Originally from South Bend, Indiana, Freshley earned a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and a Master's degree in Engineering, Finance and General Management from the University of Kansas. She worked at General Electric Company for 23 years, is an owner of an ice cream distribution company, and works in management consulting in Business/Financial Planning & Controls, Human Resources & Organization Development.

Freshley and other EWGA award winners – including LPGA Hall of Fame member Lorena Ochoa – will be formally recognized and feted in Las Vegas, April 18-21, at EWGA’s annual conference, the 2012 EWGA Golfpalooza being held at J.W.
