West Michigan Golf Show attendees receive free golf at Treetops Resort

(GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.) - Coming off an unprecedented and record-breaking year for rounds played, Treetops Resort is naturally very optimistic about the 2012 golf season. That's one reason why it's giving an unprecedented bonus for all attendees at the 2012 West Michigan Golf Show to be held February 10-12, 2012 at DeVos Place in downtown Grand Rapids.

Besides its sponsorship of the highly popular Par-Three Challenge, Treetops will provide a free midweek round of golf - a $64 value - to all Golf Show attendees registering at its booth. So for the price of admission, every golfer at this year's Golf Show can go home with a free round at one of Michigan's top resorts.

"After an outstanding golf season last year at Treetops, we wanted to start off the new year with a bang," said Kevin McKinley, Director of Golf. "Guess you might say our Golf Show offer is a big bang for no bucks. And as we found out last year with our successful pay/book early program, we're hoping these golfers will also extend their visit with us by adding a hotel night or an extra round of golf. But even if they play just that one round, we're certain they'll have fun and know it was worth the visit."

Show Manager Carolyn Alt says the Treetops incentive is a great addition. "It represents a terrific value for our patrons and demonstrates how hard everyone works to make the show better and different year after year," said Alt.

The Treetops Par-Three Challenge will again be the Show's most popular attraction. A fully landscaped golf hole complete with bunkers and a water hazard will entice golfers to compete for prizes (Treetops golf) and have a chance to win $25,000 if someone makes a final ace on Sunday. This year the event's charity recipient will be Patriot Golf Day, the nationally acclaimed initiative that provides college scholarships for the children and spouses of military personnel disabled or killed in the line of duty. On Labor Day weekend, golfers across the country are asked to add an extra dollar to their green fees to fund Folds of Honor scholarships. Last year, the Michigan PGA raised $164,315, the fourth highest total of any PGA Section in the country.

Held continuously since 1989, the West Michigan Golf Show will attract thousands of Michigan golfers to hundreds of exhibits and will feature clinics, putting contests, junior golf instruction, swing analyzers and a "one stop" golf shopping opportunity with countless "golf show specials." Sponsors include Treetops Resort, Fidelity Investments, Golf Association of Michigan, Boyne Resorts, Michigan PGA, and Srixon. Several charities will benefit from their involvement with the show.

Produced by ShowSpan Inc., the West Michigan Golf Show's hours are 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., Friday; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday; and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday. Tickets are $9 for adults, $4 for children ages 6-14, and children 5 and under are free. Tickets will be available at the door as well as online at www.westmichigangolfshow.com.

Special note: Until Dec. 25, 1/2 price tickets are available as "stocking stuffers" by going to the website, click on "buy tickets," and add "STOCKING" in the promotion code.
