Product Review: Bridgestone TOUR B330-RX

Teaching professionals constantly promote swing thoughts. What you think before the swing - about the shot facing you and the swing, itself - is very important. Here’s a very thought: Think Pink.

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Bridgestone - the No. 1 Ball-Fitter in Golf - is raising awareness with a limited-edition version of one its most popular balls, the TOUR B330-RX. In addition to traditional white and optic yellow varieties, a pink-pearlescent-finished ball is available. Get them while they last, though, because they won’t be around forever.

Pink or otherwise, why choose Bridgestone’s TOUR B330-RX? Simply speaking, unless your swing speed rivals that of a touring pro, this ball is made specifically for you because most amateurs record swing speeds of less than 105 mph.

What makes this ball longer and softer, therefore better for your game? Technical jargon:
* A softer gradational compression core for longer and straighter distance;
* Reengineered mantle layer for higher repulsion and workability; and
A soft urethane cover for pinpoint accuracy and Tour-caliber control.

The soft core and mantle reduces excess spin, resulting in straighter, more precise shots. The core combined with B330-RX's Ionomer Inner Cover provides an increase in velocity and reduction in sidespin with the driver and long irons.

The pink just makes it look really cool.

Pink not manly enough for you? Bubba Watson has been known to use a pink shaft in his driver? Is Bubba not manly enough for you? The biggest, baddest men in the NFL have been wearing pink shoes, towels, gloves, etc. in games played during October for the same cause.

Need another excuse to pick up a dozen pink B330-RX balls? This from a company release: With every dozen that is purchased, Bridgestone Golf will contribute a portion to a national breast cancer awareness effort to aid in the fight against Breast Cancer. To supplement the contribution, Bridgestone will also allocate a portion of proceeds from the sale of its Precept Pink Lady iQ+ golf ball during October. In total, Bridgestone Golf expects the combined initiative to net nearly $20,000 for breast cancer awareness and research.

It’s in writing.

While the technology may be advanced, the results are straight forward. It may be difficult for an amateur to judge distance from one ball to another (much easier for the man-made robots), but it doesn’t take a lot to determine spin off the driver and long irons. These balls find the fairways and greens. Miss the green? The soft cover provides a great feel. Same holds true once on the putting surface.

Bottom line: Man up and buy the limited-edition pink B330-RX from Bridgestone. Once they’re gone, hit the white or yellow. Your game will thank you.
